RI Weather Today – Fri, Dec. 25, 2020
by Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
Christmas Day 12/25/20:
Winds already waving the decorated trees about, with lots more to come through the morning hours. Moderate to heavy flooding rains will occur mainly between the hours of 8am and 3pm with southeasterly winds 20-30 mph sustained gusting upwards of 60 mph at times. Coastal areas may gust a bit higher, so expect some damage to trees and power lines all over the area, and street flooding with ice-jammed drains. It’ll be an unusually warm Christmas Day, with morning highs approaching 60, and evening lows dropping to around 40 behind the cold frontal passage.
