Rhode Island Weather for July 15, 2026
On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Rhode Island, what happened to our nice stretch of warm summer weather? The smoke came in. And may stay for several days. Another hot and mostly sunny days has changed, with cautions all around – especially for those with immune issues, the young and the old.
From the National Weather Service-Boston:

Afternoon turns hotter and increasingly smoky with highs near 97°F. The smoke is expected to be at its worst during the late morning through mid-afternoon, with the thickest haze and poorest air quality (AQI possibly in the unhealthy range). Sunshine will be filtered, giving an eerie orange tint at times. Heat index near or above 100°F.
Evening remains hot and muggy (mid-70s) with lingering smoke, though it may begin to thin slightly after sunset. Skies stay hazy.
Overall grade: C-
The heat is intense, but the heavy wildfire smoke will make it uncomfortable and unhealthy for many people — limit outdoor time, especially in the afternoon, keep windows closed if possible, and use air purifiers or AC. Sensitive groups should stay indoors. Stay safe out there! The smoke is the big story today across New England.
