Puppy Bowl features Martha Stewart, Snoop Dog – and Maribel of East Greenwich.
The annual Puppy Bowl is all set to bark off TODAY, Sunday, February 13th, at about 2pm for Super Bowl LVI. Pre-show will start at 1pm.
Puppy Bowl XVIII will showcase the matchup between Team Ruff, coached by Martha Stewart, and Team Fluff, coached by Snoop Dogg. The Puppy Bowl teams of Ruff and Fluff compete to fetch the Lombarky trophy.
The puppies that participate come from throughout the United States and all are up for adoption. That’s a record of 100 puppies from 67 shelter in 33 states.
And – yes! There’s a puppy from Rhode Island – meet Maribel – a 7 month old Doberman Pinscher/ Boxer from the East Greenwich Animal Protection League. The League is on Worthington Avenue in Cranston, not in East Greenwich. They will be having a Facebook Live Puppy Bowl event from 11am to 1pm – view theirs at: https://www.facebook.com/egaplri/ Good news: Maribel has been adopted by a North Kingstown family, and she’s now known as Reese.
The East Greenwich facility says they are jam-packed with dogs for adoption. So, give them a look if you are wanting to add (wo)man’s best friend to your home.
For the past two weeks there has been voting for the Most Popular puppy, and on February 11th the winner was chosen – it’s Benny from Team Fluff, a poodle hailing from Bosley’s Place in Smyrna, Georgia. A birth defect left Benny with only two working legs.
Don’t miss – KITTY Half Time!
And a cameo appearance by the new First Puppy, Commander and First Lady Jill Biden in a recorded spot about their love of pets.
With Snoop Dog performing at the Super Bowl Half Time, too.
Wanting to have age-equity, the Puppy Bowl has a senior moment and features older dogs and how good pets they make for adoption. They feature an interview with this dog rescuer:
Look for the Animal Planet Channel on your television – or stream it live on Discovery+.
