No regard for human life. Long before a shot is fired – Michael Morse

by Michael Morse, RINewsToday contributor, commentary

One must get their house in order before solving the problems of the world.

Nine people shot in a drive by shooting in Providence last night, a little after six, when kids are coming home for dinner after playing outside all day. A car stopped in front of a house and unloaded. At least five guns were used, dozens of rounds, both from the car and the house. Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, proponent of de-funding the police, says guns are too readily available, and something needs to be done.

As society continues to crumble, and neighborhood streets descend into battlefields where criminals are not afraid to fire their weapons into neighborhoods full of kids and working people, the fight for racial equity and police reform rages on.

The Justice Department says white supremacy is the biggest threat to our Democracy. Our president states systemic racism not only exists, but flourishes. I say that people firing their guns into occupied homes on busy streets at dinnertime has absolutely nothing to do with white privilege, but everything to do with a critical lack of responsibility and accountability, activists running wild ignoring gang violence, promoting lawlessness and blaming all the wrong people.

One must get their house in order before solving the problems of the world, and the fixing starts at home. So get to work, and start raising responsible adults, not these gangs of drug and gun dealing criminal thugs masquerading as victims of an imaginary war.
