URI student-athletes, recent alumni start Summer Soccer Camp, NextPlay Training – John Cardullo

John Cardullo, sportswriter

NextPlay Training, a soccer training company founded and run entirely by URI student-athletes and recent alumni and started by Joey Turco (senior, URI men’s soccer), Connor Froberg (junior, URI men’s soccer), and Jordan Koduah (former URI player and current Assistant Coach at Northeastern). is starting up for the summer.

A highlight will be Summer Soccer Camp in Narragansett, July 21-24:

What began as a few private lessons to local youth has grown into a full-fledged training company committed to providing elite-level coaching and meaningful mentorship.

Today, NextPlay Training offers personalized coaching, group training sessions, summer camps, and clinics for players of all ages and skill levels. Their team of coaches, composed entirely of Division 1 athletes from across the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut, brings high-level experience and energy to every session.

At its core, NextPlay is about students building a business that makes a difference. The founders are launching their Sponsor-a-Player program to ensure that financial barriers do not prohibit a young athlete’s chance to improve their game. Through this initiative, underprivileged players will receive access to training, equipment, and opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.

To kick off the program, NextPlay Training is partnering with the Maddie Potts Foundation, an organization rooted in sportsmanship, character, and community values, which deeply aligns with the NextPlay mission. Together, they aim to expand access and inspire the next generation of athletes to pursue their goals on and off the field.
