“Live from the Loading Dock” – Dave Zinno Quintet at MLK Center, Newport
The Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Newport presents “Live from the Loading Dock” with Dave Zinno Quintet kicking off the series this Wednesday, May 18th at 4:30pm. The concert will be held in front of the Center on Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard. Attendees are asked to bring their lawn chairs.
The Portsmouth-based Dave Zinno has been performing professionally since 1980 and is faculty at URI, Salve Regina and Brown University. He studied at Berklee College of Music and The University of Rhode Island and has been on the road with many noted jazz players over the years. This in-demand sideman, having performed with Ann Hampton Callaway, Harry Allen, Dado Moroni, George Garzone and Hal Crook to name just a few, has been widely recorded and has three recordings as a leader on Whaling City: Dave Zinno Unisphere River of January (Sept 2017), Dave Zinno Unisphere Stories Told (2019) and Dave Zinno Unisphere Fetish (2021).
The MLK Community Center nourishes, educates, and supports Newport County, Rhode Island residents to improve their economic, social, and physical well-being.
