Lauren Lancellotta, of Johnston receives RI Trucking Assoc/Women in Trucking Foundation scholarship
The Rhode Island Trucking Association (RITA) and the Women In Trucking (WIT) Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit affiliated with the Women In Trucking Association, are pleased to announce that Lauren Lancellotta of Johnston, Rhode Island is the second recipient of the RITA WIT Foundation Lena Daly Scholarship. The award recognizes emerging leaders in the trucking industry in the state of Rhode Island. Lancellotta currently works for Ryder and is pursuing a business degree from Southern New Hampshire University.
“Working in the trucking industry as a woman was intimidating at first, but it has truly been amazing,” said Lancellotta. “I have learned so much about business and how transportation is such a crucial part of every business worldwide. Receiving this scholarship has been such an honor and will help me to further my career in transportation,” she said. Lancellotta plans to use her finance degree to continue helping customers purchase the fleet they need to run a successful company.
“It was 60 years ago that Lena Daly led RITA and served as the first Trucking Association Manager in the ATA Federation. In partnering with the Women in Trucking Foundation, we honor Lena’s legacy by furthering the careers of women in trucking with these perpetual scholarships,”said Chris Maxwell, RITA President and CEO.
“We are excited by this new partnership with the Rhode Island Trucking Association to provide a scholarship which both honors an incredible female leader in the ATA Federation, Lena Daly, while helping to further the careers of women in transportation,” said Gail Wearsch, WIT Foundation Chair and Vice President, Fleet Sales/Channel Partner Programs at TA-Petro. “We look forward to expanding our scholarship program with other state trucking association affiliations,” she added.
