Khano Smith named Rhode Island FC’s first head coach and general manager
Khano Smith has been announced as the first-ever Head Coach and General Manager of Rhode Island FC.
Smith, who has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach with Birmingham Legion FC, is one of the fastest-rising coaching talents in North American soccer. In addition to his head coaching duties, Smith will lead soccer operations and oversee roster development and technical staff.
In addition to his time at Birmingham, Smith’s coaching stops include the Orlando Pride of the NWSL, Southern New Hampshire University, and the New England Revolution Academy. He also recently completed his USSF Pro License, one of just two USL Championship coaches to graduate in the class of 2022.
“I am honored and humbled to be back in New England. I’m excited to build a winning culture with Rhode Island FC. Rhode Islanders deserve a team they can call their own and I intend to build a side that every Rhode Islander will be proud of. I’m incredibly thankful to Brett Johnson, my former teammate Michael Parkhurst and the entire Rhode Island FC team for having trust in me and my approach to the beautiful game,” said Khano Smith, Rhode Island FC Head Coach and General Manager.
Rhode Island FC will be providing more information on their social media channels about opportunities to meet Khano Smith. More information is available on “head over to our social media” to welcome Khano and leave him helpful messages of favorite places to eat and visit in Rhode Island.
