It is what it is: Commentary with Jen Brien, Oct. 8, 2025

by Jennifer Brien, contributing writer, commentary

10 THINGS THAT DON’T SURPRISE ME (TODAY… WEDNESDAY OCT 8TH 2025)

10.) That the Democrat Mayor of Baltimore Brandon Scott is sparking outrage after spending $164,000 of taxpayer money on an ultra luxurious, beyond fully loaded personal JEEP SUV… then screaming people are asking questions… because… yep… they’re racist. Another one ripping off constituents.

9.) That Brandon Johnson – one of the most racist, hateful, and useless mayors Chicago has ever seen is protecting Venezuelan gang members with his “ICE FREE ZONES”

8.) That people are waking up to the insanity going on in the U.K and all of Europe… (INSANE FORCED MIGRANT SATURATION and ISLAMIC TAKEOVER or whatever)

7.) THAT people understand most of the protests against ICE in U.S communities are paid actors most likely funded through some back door channel by SOROS and definitely circles back to OBAMA.

6.) That Joy Behar claims TRUMP will use ICE to stop the next PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION  (she may be the biggest moron on the planet)

5.) That the BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S FBI spied on sitting Republican senators…

4.) That a package FILLED with UNMARKED absentee ELECTION BALLOTS was delivered to a woman in Maine… In her order FROM Amazon. (do we really think mail-in ballots are safe and secure… NAH)

3.) That Whoopi Goldberg wants WHITE Americans to slap on the oh so TABOO “BLACK FACE” at the Super Bowl to confuse ICE. (I THOUGHT black face was a no no)

2.) That a well know drag queen ( “Aubrey Ghalichi” ) was busted in Phoenix for having sex with a 13 year old boy

1.) That after the FAKE  “free speech” outrage surrounding Jimmy Kimmel and his suspension… HIS ratings are back in a fresh filled bedpan… they have fallen 71% over the past week. 🚽

PASTOR ROBERT MORRIS

So, about 7…. 8 years ago now, I was headed to service one Sunday and there was a guest pastor speaking on this particular day from Texas. His name was Robert Morris. He founded a megachurch and was visiting our location to discuss tithing and the spiritual importance of it all. I listened intently and wanted to respect what this church elder/pastor was saying. I was new in church and growing in my faith and learning the dynamics of Christian faith as I had grown up Catholic. As he spoke for about 10 minutes something wasn’t sitting right with me. I couldn’t put my finger on it… heck, I didn’t even know how to describe it as I was just beginning to learn all the Christian lingo… (said affectionately… BUT there’s PLENTY of LINGO)… there was just something there, and it wasn’t about money. A lot of people get the red rump when pastors start talking money. Nah, I understand that a church needs money to grow and help people out in the world. If we don’t donate, they only have limited funds to keep the lights on… so for me it wasn’t about that. It was something else. I just felt… off. Anyhow… I went about my business and the years passed and I moved and changed churches and more years passed, but every time I saw this man on TV or online giving a sermon I just felt weird. Fast forward to a few weeks ago… I was having my coffee perusing the Internet before feeding the birds and there was this BIG headline:

“FORMER TEXAS MEGA CHURCH PASTOR Robert Morris pleads guilty to child sex abuse charges”

I nearly fell out of my chair. I couldn’t believe it, but I BELIEVED IT. I knew something wasn’t right. My discernment told me so… but I wasn’t sure. Before I go on – let me say, we all make mistakes. We all fall short. We are all human and can be gross and fresh and disruptive and less than our best. So, I’m not throwing stones – knock it off. Don’t send me that email. I’ll delete it in 2 seconds. This is about sexually grooming children and being a leader in the church.

Though this happened when he was 21 and his victim was 12… I asked my best friend…

“Think back to when you were 21. Could you imagine seducing a 12 year old ?” We both became nauseated. No. It’s impossible for us to imagine this. Impossible. Point is, his age has nothing to do with this, it has to do with his predatory demonic lust for children as a man and the sexual abuse of children which ensued (which didn’t happen just once… it went on for years).

He THEN  had the ball$ to open a huge new church without ever being forth coming about his sick behavior while in a trusted position within the community. Of course he wouldn’t, Jen… WHY WOULD HE? Gee, IDK… because he’s supposed to be an honest man of God?

I’m not going to blab on about this but, the point of this section is two fold. Discernment is NOT INTUITION. DISCERNMENT is a deep spiritual awareness, one that comes from the Holy Spirit or rather, the presence of Christ who lives in the believer. If your discernment is screaming or pinging or even dull but it’s there… LISTEN TO IT.

Secondly, I wonder out loud how many pastors locally and all over the country knew about his sexual indiscretions with children and let it fly. “Well, surely GOD forgives him… so WE will too” may be the mindset behind the “let’s not discuss the whispers”,  but if that’s the case you should NOT be pastoring a church, either.  The victim  (the one that we know of) said her life was destroyed.  Isn’t it our job as adults, let alone pastors, to protect children?

Some Christian Churches can be very clicky and MANY don’t like a negative word spoken ABOUT ANYTHING without getting rabid so it can be hard to ask a question or do a little research. EXAMPLE- one day I asked someone I was volunteering with a question regarding the “creepy STEPFORD WIVES demeanor of everyone at this church” and well… trust me… my face blew off. It’s a good thing I love Christ… that’s all I have to say. True, perhaps I could have phrased it differently, but… I’m me. So I didn’t. Be very careful where you sit on Sunday. Now is not the time to half step your walk  with God or settle. People know the truth deep inside. Try and tell me this man was never “vetted” by ANYONE.  NO ONE knew about the accusations or his past? Even if THAT answer is a NO… HE DID.

Robert Morris knew and he stood before thousands representing Christ… all the while having groomed and sexually abused a 12 year old girl over and over and over and over. How revolting. How unbelievably repulsive and revolting. Do your homework. Know who’s sharing God’s word with you. Know who the guests are and who’s asking for your money. You have to in these times. It’s not cynical – it’s wise. Doing research isn’t unholy. God’s word is not a show… not a game or a box to check off once a week.

Take it very seriously right now and know who’s preaching to you or asking for a financial commitment after some song and dance or fashion show.

Just sayin’.

SOFT LIVES

“Some people don’t get to live soft lives. They get handed chaos, grief, betrayal and addictions but learn how to bloom anyway. They become the ones who know how to carry others when their world falls apart because they remember what it was like when no one showed up for them. They didn’t make it because it was easy, they made it because they never gave up.

Soft lives are overrated. The higher the calling, the greater the suffering.”

Run your race. You’re not alone.

Entertaining thoughts as usual Jen. Thanks for the perspective.

  2. Marge Frith on October 8, 2025 at 2:38 pm

Thanks as always for your thoughtful comments.
At 90, I’ve struggled for years to understand why some people seem to be born to a much easier life than others. Yet when I look closer, I find it really isn’t. Wealth? Certainly not the answer. Ideal mate? Perfect parents? Impossible to find. Face it. There’s a “hob-goblin” in everyone’s closet.
ADVICE: Stay strong for myself and my cat Minnie. Be careful who I trust. Acknowledge those who continue to help me. Do what I feel in my heart is best to help others struggling to succeed despite often overwhelming burdens.

TY, Marge, for sharing your perspective in such an eloquent way…

      Hi Marge.
You’ve been a part of my circle because of radio and my writings for years now. You’re a warrior, a good egg, a good person. Love to your cat and high five to you . Keep on keeping on. The world needs you! 😀👍

I look forward to your column every week. I am never disappointed. I may not agree but I always read and think. Thank you for that.
I do have to say that from the very beginning of the Kirk event I have found Mrs Kirk just a tad offputting. No offense and I am certainly not walking in her shoes BUT I think I would wear her shoes a little differently . NO OFFENSE implied or stated.

Thanks for reading Linda. I always write as if I were about to talk with friends at a coffee shop or a stranger on the bus. Just real, honest and loaded with snark.
      😉

You presented things that were never publized. Good subjects once again.

  5. Laura Heinemann on October 8, 2025 at 9:23 am

It was all good, but the one that grabbed me by the throat the most was the ballots being sent via Amazon. What on earth ELSE could be floating around in Amazon boxes??!!

  6. John Matakanski on October 8, 2025 at 8:20 am

I appreciate. Keep up the good work.🙂
