The news summary discloses an obscured fact: there’s plenty of money around to devote to social needs such as hunger, to wit, banks making gifts, organizations raising money and collecting food. Which points out that private activity can get the job done and is much to be preferred instead of reliance on (and often gaming of) a government program — which so open to fraud and abuse.
If only people could feel and respond. On the other hand, you have some rich people spending $50K to assault the realm of bioethics to make a pit bull, and the general populace gorging themselves on “holiday” spending. On a “holiday” where the message is to care for the poor and needy.

November 1st certainly is too early for Christmas music. Some of us are already tired of it.
Holiday spending could top $1 trillion? That’s consumerism at its worst.
