Gimme’ Shelter: Sarah is smiling at the thought of a forever home – Cheryl Tudino, RISPCA
by Cheryl Tudino, contributing writer, RI SPCA

Cheryl Tudino, RISPCA
Hi there, I’m Cheryl, a volunteer at the RISPCA in Warwick, full-time treat dealer, poop scoop enthusiast, and full-time believer that every shelter dog deserves their own theme song.
This week I would like to introduce you to Sarah- and trust me, once you meet her, you’ll be humming “Sara Smile” all day long.
This Sarah is a bit classic, just like Hall & Oates’ song, “Sara Smile.” If Hall & Oates wrote a sequel today, it probably would be about this sweet classic girl.
Sarah is the kind of dog who doesn’t need fireworks to steal your heart. She is a low energy, easy going lady whose idea of a perfect day is lounging beside you, soaking up a sunbeam, and reminding you that life is better when you slow down to enjoy the moment. She’s not looking for adventure; she is looking for her person in the next chapter of her life.
🎵”Sara…smile…” 🎵
And smile, she will, especially if snacks and love are involved.
This perfect lady is housebroken, settles beautifully in her kennel, and would fit into a variety of homes. She gets along well with other calm, older dogs who appreciate the finer things in life, like naps, snacks, and judging squirrels from a comfortable distance. She loves making new human friends, especially those who may accidentally drop a treat or two.
Sarah does have Cushing’s disease, which is well managed with medication. She will need an adopter committed to keeping up with her routine veterinary care, but she is so worth every bit of extra love and support. In return, you will get a loyal BFF who proves every day that the sweetest hearts sometimes just need a little extra TLC.
We don’t have a history of Sarah living with children, but based on her gentle, mellow yellow personality, we don’t anticipate concerns. She has not been tested with cats, though given her chill personality, she may simply ask them to keep the noise down during her nap time.
Sarah may not be the dog who hikes mountains or runs marathons. She is the dog who sits beside you during life’s quiet moments, rests her head on your knee, and somehow makes an ordinary Monday feel special.
So, if you have been waiting for a sign, consider this your cue. 🎵 “When you feel cold, I’ll warm you…” 🎵 Sarah is ready to bring warmth, comfort, and plenty of smiles to her new home.
Come meet Sarah. Just one look into those soulful eyes, and you just might find yourself singing her song all the way home. #SarSmile #HallAndOatesWouldApprove #AdoptSarah #Senior Sweetheart
