A black and brown dog with blue eyes on a leash, available for pet adoption.

Gimme’ Shelter: Rio is at the Providence Animal Control Center waiting for a forever home.

Hello! I’m Rio, I am a young and energetic pupper looking for active humans to live with and maybe another dog who matches my energy, please. I was found as a stray – a really cute stray – so not much is known about me, but that’s OK. I am neutered now and up to date on everything. I am 40ish pounds and the perfect size for most active homes! I am very ready to go to a new home, please send an email to meet me.

If you can see me, I am still available! No phone calls please, everything is done online and we do need an application submitted and approved before scheduling a visit. We differ from other shelters by offering a one on one experience between you, our staff and the animal or animals you’ve chosen to become a new family member! Please email [email protected].

About the Providence Animal Control Division

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

Since 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents. To participate please send a message through our Facebook page at Providence Animal Care Center.
