Gimme’ Shelter – Meet Mariana

Hello there, I am a 1 to 2 year old female kitty with a sad story to tell. But first, check out my coloring, I am actually what they call a ticked tabby, a color pattern commonly seen in Abyssinian cats.

My family reached out to a rescue to give me to – and my kittens. I was given to PAC, and my kittens went to a kitten rescue. PAC found out that my kittens were only one month old when they were told they were 2 months old, and taking a nursing mom away from such little ones is not done. But, by the time this was learned I had been spayed so that my hormones could go back to normal. My kittens are eating with a bottle at the rescue so everything is going okay with them. My family wanted me back. But going back quickly made me upset again and I cried all night keeping the human kids up – I’m back here.

I know what you’re thinking and you’re right, this story couldn’t be more sad BUT, the good news is that I am feeling better and I am SWEET.

I am looking for a home where I can decompress alone for now and then I could likely live with other cats in a few months when I am 100% okay again! I am just a baby myself too!

About the Providence Animal Control Division

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

As of November 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents. To participate please send a message through our FaceBook page at Providence Animal Care Center.
