Hi there, I’m Cheryl, a volunteer at the RISPCA in Warwick-dog walker, treat dispenser, and part-time hype woman for our adoptable pups.
Kalba Yafa translates to Beautiful Dog in Hebrew. The RISPCA has a Kalba Yafa and her name is Katie! Meet Katie…
Katie’s story begins far from here, on the streets of Israel. Once a stray navigating the world on her own, she has since discovered the simple, beautiful joys of safety-soft places to rest, kind hands to lean into, and people to love.
Despite everything she has been through, Katie’s heart stayed open. She greets the world with a gentle spirit, walks calmly by your side, and melts into affection like she has been waiting her whole life for it. She asks for very little – some rubs and scratches, a few treats, and a human who will call her yafa sheli (“my beautiful girl”).
She gets along wonderfully with people and other dogs, and somehow manages to be soulful and easygoing at the same time.
Fun fact: Katie even knows a few commands in Hebrew, which means she is both internationally cultured and extra impressive at training time.
