Gimme’ Shelter: Elvira, here… at the Providence Animal Control Center

Well, hi! I came in with The Mayor when our family moved and left us behind. He has been in foster a while and I am still here … not sure how I feel about that! I am about 4 years old and have a big personality! I am sometimes nice and I am sometimes spice but never a dull moment. I can live with other cats, I may not like them (or I may pretend not to)… I live right next to a cat, I don’t know his name but he seems OK, so long has he does what I say 🙂 If you’re the kind of person who likes interesting, outgoing and bold cats who know what they want out of life, then I’m your girl!

If you can see me, I am still available! We prefer everything regarding adoption be done via email, this way we can answer any time or day! We do need an application submitted before scheduling a visit. If you don’t have access to email, no worries, please call 401 680 7591. We differ from other shelters by offering a one-on-one experience between you, our staff and the animal or animals you’ve chosen to become a new family member! Please email [email protected] or [email protected]*

About the Providence Animal Control Division

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

As of November 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents. To participate please send a message through our Facebook page at Providence Animal Care Center.
