Gimme’ Shelter: Diablo at Providence Animal Control Center
Hello! I have a story to tell for sure, so please listen up!
To his credit Diablo almost accepts us! It’s not his fault, he was a one-owner bottle baby taken away from his feline family at a formative 4 weeks old. His person was all he knew and he never learned how to “cat”, or trust, or be social. His person fled a domestic situation, so sad for humans and animals always, and there was nowhere for him to go other than PAC.
We were hopeful when we heard Diablo’s person might take him back, but they never came. Diablo needs a one or 2 human home who will respect his personal space and understand his anxiety. He is great at communication!
Diablo is 4 years old, neutered and his anxiety is managed with Prozac which he reliably eats in his wet food. He is interested in other cats and loves to bird watch. He’s not a candidate for a barn home, he has never been outside, and has zero Boys Scout skills. If you think you might be interested in Diablo, please send us an email at [email protected]

About the Providence Animal Control Division
The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.
As of November 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents. To participate please send a message through our Facebook page at Providence Animal Care Center.
