Gimme’ Shelter – “Blanket” at the Providence Animal Control Center

Howdy there! My name is Blanket and I came to PAC in November after I jumped up on a child causing a scratch. I was so confused as to why my owners never returned for me, I hope they know I didn’t mean it as I was just excited that we were playing together.

I tend to forget that I am much larger than most children so a home with teenagers or older would be better. Like my name, I am here like a blanket to keep you warm and cozy on those cold winter nights. I’ve been told I am staff and volunteers favorite, but shhh don’t let the others know our secret. I love to go on adventures and most of all I just love to swoon my humans. I lived with another dog and would not mind having another dog friend, of course we will have to meet to make sure we get along. I am about 3 years of age and scheduled to be neutered the second week of January 2024. Hoping to see you soon.

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

Since 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents.
