Pawtucket Decked their Halls – in what might be City Hall’s last Christmas
Pawtucket City Hall’s future is as uncertain as it’s ever been – with streams of water from the tower to mold and asbestos under it all – this Christmas may be it’s last as the iconic City Hall. Restoration as its present use is highly unlikely – being sold to a developer more likely. Being razed, an ever possibility. Like the iconic Superman building what happens to this building – and its tower – stands to change the skyline. It seems as though that is the overriding concern. Offices can be relocated. But the skyline of Pawtucket? From the city seal to the immediate recognition of Slater Mill standing mere yards away.
Given all this, with relocation of offices on the immediate horizon, we commend the City Hall employees for showing some love – and some celebration – this year.
For the first year ever, and with a tip of the hat to a building with lots of problems, Pawtucket City Hall decided to bring “a little joy and light” to the employees with a decorate-your-office-door contest. The Holiday Door Decorating Competition had a Mayor’s Choice and People’s Choice winners.
A thank you to Grace Voll, Director of Communications, City of Pawtucket, Mayor’s office for providing the photos!
The Mayor’s Choice was Tax Assessors/Collections & the Popular Vote Winner was Police Clerks!
