More Than 500 Gather at The Preserve to Honor Hall of Famer Adam Vinatieri – Fourth annual Clays 4 Charity raises support for veterans, first responders and the organizations that serve them

More than 500 participants, supporters, celebrities and sponsors gathered at The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort in Richmond on Friday, Aug. 14, for the fourth annual Clays 4 Charity.

This “Hall of Fame Edition” honored former New England Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri, the four-time Super Bowl champion who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this month.

Hosted by Preserve Chairman Paul Mihailides, the event brought together experienced and first-time shooters for a day of sporting clays, outdoor activities, entertainment and fundraising.

Proceeds will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports military members, first responders and their families. The Geronimo Foundation and the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation will also receive support from this year’s event. The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation works to protect and promote hunting, fishing, recreational shooting and other outdoor traditions.

Former New England Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi also participated, adding another Patriots and Super Bowl connection to the event.

“This event continues to grow because of the incredible people who come together for a common purpose,” Mihailides said. “To have more than 500 people join us this year — and to celebrate Adam’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame — made this fourth annual Clays 4 Charity especially meaningful.”

“At the end of the day, it is about much more than sporting clays,” he added. “It is about supporting the people and organizations that serve our country and our communities.”

Vinatieri and Mihailides addressed participants during the morning kickoff before teams headed onto The Preserve’s two sporting clays courses.

Vinatieri played 24 seasons in the NFL, beginning his career with the Patriots in 1996. He helped New England win three Super Bowl championships and later won a fourth with the Indianapolis Colts. Widely regarded as one of the greatest kickers in NFL history, he became known for making several of the most consequential field goals in league history.

The Preserve’s 3,500-acre property also provided activities beyond the clays competition, including fly fishing, paintball, an obstacle course, axe throwing, chainsaw carving, lawn games and access to its indoor shooting range.

The day concluded with a dinner prepared by chef David Burke, followed by a live auction and musical performances.

The entertainment lineup included Nashville-based singer-songwriter Dave Kennedy, guitarist and mandolinist Andy Wood and country artist Tyler Farr, known for the songs “Redneck Crazy” and “A Guy Walks Into a Bar.”

The evening continued with “Adam’s After Party.”

Now in its fourth year, Clays 4 Charity brings together athletes, business leaders, sponsors, families and members of the outdoor sporting community to raise money and awareness for charitable organizations.
