23 employees at a Worcester Walmart test positive – store closes

Governor of Massachusetts has formed a re-opening advisory board and are meeting with various groups in a “listening tour” across the state.

Bryant University announces it will open this fall – with students returning to dorm life when it is safe to do so but classes will be run on their campus facility.

Boston: More cities are requiring residents and visitors to wear face masks or other facial covering when in public – or risk a $300 fine. Lawrence Mayor Daniel Rivera said a new order mandating the use of facial coverings took effect Wednesday. Lawrence joins Cambridge and Somerville in mandating the use of facial coverings in public spaces.

Golfers are asking Massachusetts Governor to reopen their golf courses, with social distancing guidelines in place.

The Alliance for Aviation Across America confirmed that the CARES stimulus package will provide “$100 million is designated for general aviation airports.” Intended for Rhode Island: Block Island – $1,069,162; Newport – $30,000; Quonset – $69,000; North Central – $30,000; TF Green – $21,746,229; Westerly – $1,072,803.

Rhode Island’s Crisis Standards of Care was released – the document is not expected to see any use during the current pandemic. It is a go-to guide for a complete overwhelming of resources regionally, and how care decisions would be made, based on patient viability scores. Here is a link to the document:

Governor’s Public Event Yesterday

Governor Raimondo said in her Thursday address that summer camps would be limited to probably under 15, may incorporate virtual, and have new rules. No big groups. Still working on making this happen.

When we have a vaccine that is widely available and everyone can have access to it, “all this will end” – about one year away. But it will get a little bit better soon. For a year we will be living with some version of these restrictions.

Providence Slow Streets is set to launch on Saturday May 2, with over a dozen miles of low traffic, reduced speed roadways in select neighborhoods across the city.Providence announces parks that will open, and streets that will be one way except for local travel and emergency vehicles – effective Saturday.
