Hi Jen,
I love reading your posts. I raised my children Catholic, and chose to send them to a Catholic school. I wanted them to have religion in school. It doesn’t matter if they have religion in schools, some kids, still do things in Catholic schools, as Public schools!
My children are in their middle 40’s now, they don’t practice any religion.
I am not Catholic any longer! (Personal choice) but I’m a Christian!
Faith is important! My mom had always taught me that. She was a Christian woman, and Faith got her through so many things in life!
I don’t think God is causing evil I think the evil one is! There is a balance, and do you think that the God we worship, would allow, something so powerful to harm others? That’s my belief. I could be wrong! But, I’m human.

I’m with you. I put my trust in God. He sees the big picture. Also I hope my dogs and cat live as long as I do. Another great column that gives me things to think about. I look forward to Wednesdays the best day. Thanks Judy
You know I am 76 years old. I was raised as a Catholic, went to catholic school, followed the rules and guidelines all m life etc etc etc. Now I wonder (no offense to anyone) if God/Jesus really cares about ‘us’. So much is now happening which is essentially bad/evil that could be avoided by deity involvement- I find myself wondering. If He cared would He allow animals to suffer and let the humans who do the hurting get away with it? I just have some serious questions that I can’t find the answers to. Also I think maybe the college of cardinals made a boo-boo?
Hi Linda! I love hearing from you ! I want you to know, even though I have deep faith I too have questions. I know I’ll never get the answers I’m looking for though. I don’t understand Alot, but I believe with all I am this all has to happen so Jesus can return, and we are at war with a spiritual darkness. The Bible tells us this too. I get through each day by trusting God, doing good, and doing my best. That’s all we can really do. Don’t lose hope in God, he will never forsake you. You’re a deep thinker…..that’s a good thing! 🙂
Linda – You and I could just change names and be the same person – age, background, etc. Don’t forget that God gave us free will. We don’t always make the right choices, but they are our choices. We own them. If we can correct them, we do. Sometimes, we have to forgive ourselves. We are our own worst enemy. Everything that you’re asking, I’ve asked. It’s taken me my lifetime to figure out that this is what is called a Mystery of Faith. Faith is what gets us through the good & bad. When our time is over, I have faith that I’ll get some answers. If not, then I probably didn’t need them.
As to the Pope, he is there for a reason. He’s an American citizen. He does try to keep the Church/State law alive. He can speak out against war despite what Trump says. The Pope isn’t crossing any line. Trump is. Trump is pushing Christianity, but nothing he says or does is Christian. He doesn’t believe in any God but has chosen God as his weapon. His ‘revenge & retribution’ is based on an ‘eye for an eye’. God never said that in the Bible nor was it promoted as ‘justice’. It’s his scare tactic that Evangelicals preach. Do wrong, you will pay. Only God is the judge & jury, not Trump and not me. Put it in God’s hands. He will deal with it when his time comes, as it does for all of us. I speak out against the lies, the theft, the oaths broken. My religion is separate and apart from the Constitution. I hope by this time I’ve learned the difference between right and wrong. What’s good for one isn’t always good for another. Biden knew this which is why some of his decisions seemed wrong. He looked at the whole picture, not a piece.
Trump looks at his bank account. When his time comes, he can’t take it with him nor can he buy his way in. Have a great day!
