African Americans on College Hill – Walking Tour with Ray Rickman
Ray Rickman will hold a special College Hill Walking Tour on Saturday, November 6th, starting at 9am, and running for approximately 90 minutes.
Explore Providence’s oldest neighborhood, College Hill, and the African Americans who lived their varied lives here with Rhode Island’s foremost expert, Ray Rickman.
Many of the individuals and families left an indelible mark on not only the state but the world, including opera diva Sissieretta Jones, landscape artist Edward M. Bannister, and Harlem Renaissance author Rudolph Fisher.
The group will meet and leave from Stages of Freedom, at 10 Westminster Street in downtown Providence. People are advised to wear warm clothes, in layers, and comfortable walking shoes.
