Bristol County Savings Awards $85,000+ to 15 RI Nonprofits

Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB), through its charitable foundation, awarded $85,100 to 15 non-profit organizations in the greater Pawtucket, Rhode Island area at a ceremony which recently took place at the Holiday Inn Taunton.  All total, the Bank presented $353,600 in grants to 44 organizations in the greater Pawtucket, Rhode Island region, the Taunton/Attleboro region, the New Bedford/Dartmouth region and the Fall River region and surpassed $22 million in total charitable commitments given since the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation’s (BCSCF) inception in 1996.

The organizations in the greater Pawtucket, Rhode Island region that received grants from the Foundation are as follows: Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England ($2,000); HopeHealth ($5,000); Local Area Initiatives Support Corporation ($15,000); Old Slater Mill Association ($5,000); Pawtucket Central Falls Development Corp. ($15,000); Providence Children’s Museum ($4,000); Reach Out and Read Rhode Island ($4,000); RI Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School ($5,000); St. Cecilia’s School ($2,500); Shri Service Corps. ($2,500); Sojourner House, Inc. ($3,500); The Learning Community Charter School ($4,000); The Arc of Blackstone Valley ($2,600); The Providence Center ($5,000); and the YMCA of Pawtucket ($10,000).  Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and President & CEO of BCSB, awarded the grants to the organizations.  Also participating were representatives from the BCSCF Pawtucket Advisory Board and the Bank’s area branches.

“Our mission is to support the communities we serve by making them a better place to live and work,” said Murray.  “Though our investments in local charitable organizations, combined with our community partnerships and volunteer activities, we do our best to fulfill that purpose.”

Bristol County Savings Bank is an active supporter in the communities in which it serves. The Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration.  Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Taunton/Attleboro region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth region, the Fall River region and the greater Pawtucket, Rhode Island region, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population.
