ART! “Resilience” at South County Art Association

Artist Krzysztof Mathews is one of the 95 exhibitors at the ongoing South County Art Association exhibit themed “Resilience”. The exhibit runs through November 11th, and is a juried exhibit, with Ben Anderson, juror.

The gallery ​is open Wednesday – Sunday from  1 – 5 pm and is located at 2587 Kingstown Rd inn Kingston.

Krzysztof is an Adjunct Professor in the Art Department at the University of Rhode Island.

Krzysztof says, “A sculpture I have been secretly building this year had a moment to shine [at the art opening] on October 19th. My found object assemblage “Headstrong” received an Honorable Mention from Juror Ben Anderson at the opening reception of the RESILIENCE Open Juried All Media Exhibition at the South County Art Association A huge thanks to Professor Anderson and the good folks from SCAA for this award.

Krzysztof thanked his friends Alan and Patricia Wynne for the photo, above, noting that Alan is also a participant in the exhibit with a sculptural piece.

This show runs from October 19 – November 11, 2023.

About Krzysztof:

Krzysztof graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1995 with a BFA in Illustration, and then from UW Madison with an MFA in 2000. It was during his time in Madison, Wisconsin that he was introduced to computer graphics as a working media.

He is currently an art and design instructor, and an active member of the Art League of Rhode Island, where he currently serves as Co-Chair of Communications and Chair of Artist Selections.

Established in 1929, South County Art Association (SCAA) is the second oldest 503(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization in Rhode Island. We are dedicated to providing art opportunities and everyone has a role in our art community. Artists come to us to exhibit their art. Students take classes to learn about art. Patrons and art lovers visit us to view the work that everyone creates. We offer over 100 classes per year in pottery, painting, drawing, mixed media, photography and printmaking for all levels from beginner to advanced. Our classes provide a welcoming environment because we know that creative expression is unique to each individual and to share and learn from each other is essential for artistic growth. ​
