ART! Providence Art Club’s new exhibitions with local artists opens with reception TODAY
Top: Anne Wert, artist
The Providence Art Club will host new exhibitions March 30 – April 17 across all three of its historic galleries. The shows feature more than 20 local artists working in a range of media. Opening with receptions on Sunday, March 30 from 2-4pm, these exhibitions continue through April 17. The galleries of the Providence Art Club are always free and open to the public.

On view in the Maxwell Mays Gallery, PAC Exhibiting Artist Members Joan McConaghy, Sandra DeSano Pezzullo, and Anne Wert will share recent landscape works in watercolor and oil. McConaghy and Pezzullo make much of their work in studios in the Club’s Deacon Taylor House and Anne Wert serves on the Club’s Board of Managers and as Chair of its Art Committee.

In the Mary Castelnovo Gallery, PAC Exhibiting Artist Member Elena Obelenus will share a collection of recent prints and ceramics. A resident of Bristol, Obelenus had a career in textile design and creates her clay work using the raku process, which results in surfaces with an iridescent quality. Her works across media are united by their keen sense for detail and craftsmanship.
The Club’s Dodge House Gallery will host the organization’s Fourth Annual Community Invitational Exhibition, featuring over a dozen local artists who are not members of the Club. These include emerging and more established makers working in media ranging from painting, drawing, and printmaking to ceramics, fibers, and neon. Speaking of this show, gallery manager and exhibition organizer Michael Rose says, “Our Community Invitationals are a newer tradition for the Art Club and one that offers another outlet for local artists to share their work in our historic gallery spaces. I am thrilled to welcome many first-time exhibitors to participate in this special show and hope many Rhode Islanders will visit and support their neighbors and peers exhibiting.”
For more information about this exhibition please contact Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose at 401-331-1114 ext. 5, [email protected].
Exhibitions Dates March 30 – April 17, 2025
Opening Receptions Sunday, March 30, 2-4pm

About the Providence Art Club:
Founded in 1880 to stimulate the appreciation of art in the community, the Club has long been a place for artists and art patrons to congregate, create, display and circulate works of art. Located along Thomas Street, in the shadow of the First Baptist Church, the Providence Art Club is a picturesque procession of historic houses, home to studios, galleries and the clubhouse. Through its public programs, its art instruction classes for members and its active exhibition schedule, the Providence Art Club continues a tradition of sponsoring and supporting the visual arts in Providence and throughout Rhode Island.
