ART! Party with the Providence Art Club artists. Holiday Block Party, Little Picture Show, gallery tours…

The historic Providence Art Club will host a festive holiday Block Party on Sunday, December 19, from 12-5pm.

The Block Party will open all four of the Art Club’s historic properties to visitors, allowing guests to explore the 117th Annual Little Pictures Show, see artists working in their studios, and more. Approximately 20 artists will be on hand to discuss their work, tours of the Club will be available, and guests will be invited to partake in the convivial camaraderie for which the Art Club is known.

Hot cocoa and cheese and crackers will be offered. The Spanglish food truck will be on site all day offering their signature gourmet empanadas, and Santa may even make an appearance. The Block Party is free and open to the public. All are welcome and no tickets or registration are required.

First mounted in 1904, the Little Pictures Show & Sale features works sized at 16” x 16” or less and priced at no more than $300. Works in a variety of media by elected Exhibiting Artist Members of the Art Club are on view. Items range from paintings, prints, and mixed media works to glass, jewelry, and fine woodworking. Buyers can take home purchased artworks immediately. Sold works are then replaced, making for a constantly changing exhibition. Over more than a century, this exhibition has become a beloved tradition for viewers and art collectors from throughout Southern New England and beyond. The Club’s December 19 Block Party is a festive way to explore this popular exhibition and experience the Art Club firsthand.

Of the Block Party, Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose says, “We are excited to welcome visitors to discover the special warmth and camaraderie of the Art Club. Our galleries are free and open to the public year-round but are especially fun and festive this time of year.”

Little Pictures runs from November 7 – December 23. Special extended gallery hours are seven days a week from 12-5pm each day. The galleries will be closed occasionally for holidays as well as for private functions and Art Club events. For more information about this exhibition or the Club’s Block Party, please contact Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose at 401-331-1114 ext.5, or via email at [email protected].
