The 32nd annual Fakes & Forgeries exhibit at Spring Bull Gallery in Newport opened this week and will continue until February 26th.

32nd Annual Fakes & Forgeries is an exhibit of artistic reproductions or creative interpretations of the old and new masters.

Juror Natalie Featherston says, “What an honor it was to be chosen as the juror for the 32nd Annual Fakes and Forgeries show this year. It was an incredibly difficult task to choose only a handful of pieces for awards out of such a stellar show. Seeing all the ways contemporary artists were inspired by the masters made this a very special exhibition. I wish I had another dozen or so awards to share to recognize all the wonderful work represented here.”

The Spring Bull Gallery, is located at 55 Bellevue Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island, Wednesday to Monday from noon to 4pm.

Best in Show

Juror’s Comment on Best in Show – “Sunlight” – “This is such a stunning painting- it literally lights up the gallery and one is drawn to it immediately. The color palette and paint handling are evocative of Benson’s pastel work, even though different mediums. The execution is top notch-beautiful and sensitive lines in the drawing capture the same gesture as the original.” – Natalie Featherston

Charles Clear – “Sunlight” after Frank Benson – Oil, 30.25″x17″ – $3,500
