ART! Earthly Forms, Anthony Salemme at Erase Gallery & Studio
Anthony Salemme’s art, Earthly Forms, will be at Erase Gallery & Studio at 1 Meeting Street on the East Side of Providence from October 9 – Nov 2.
Anthony Salemme, a professional chef, muscular therapist, and outsider painter, explores the relationship between nature and abstraction through his work.
Anthony focuses on themes of vegetation, gastronomy, and anatomy, illustrating the journey of food from seedlings to meal preparation while considering muscular alignment in his shapes.
Using layers of acrylic paint, oil pastel, and varnish, they create vibrant, textured compositions that reflect the fluid and evolving nature of life.
His abstract naturescapes capture the essence of natural forms, inviting viewers to engage deeply with the artwork and discover hidden elements. In today’s uncertain times, Anthony aims to encourage reflection and reconnection with the natural world and our surroundings.

From Anthony: For years, I have been mesmerized by the beauty and mystery of the island landscape – not the line where land meets water, but the dense island jungle. The intense colors of the simplest of leaves, the liana vines drooping from tree branches, the carnivorous pitcher plant that emits a foul odor in order to attract its fill of insects, the staghorn fern which uses a larger tree as a host, and the short-lived hibiscus bloom – these amazing plants and their environments have captivated my mind.
