National Financial Literacy Month. BankRI offers free, virtual workshop: “Smart money moves…
April is National Financial Literacy Month
In recognition of April as National Financial Literacy Month, Bank Rhode Island (BankRI) and Pawtucket Central Falls Development are partnering to host a no-cost financial workshop via Zoom on Wednesday, April 23. The session, called “Smart Money Moves for a Stronger Foundation,” will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is open to all Rhode Islanders. Those who wish to attend are asked to register online in advance of the workshop.
“Smart Money Moves” was designed to help participants expand their financial knowledge, strengthen their ability to manage money, and plan for the future. The session will feature three distinct topics: Understanding Financial Habits and Goal Setting, Budgeting and Expense Tracking, and Credit and Debt Management. Within those focus areas, workshop presenters will lean into the importance of emergency funding, key budgeting principles, debunking credit myths, strategies for reducing debt, and more.
The workshop will be led by Kathy Galipeau and Stephanie Silva of BankRI, along with Dianny Melusky, Director of Homeownership for PCF Development and a HUD Certified Housing Counselor. Following the main presentation, there will be a Q&A session to wrap up the workshop.
“Our commitment to the community goes beyond banking, it’s about creating opportunities and empowering our fellow Rhode Islanders,” said Will Tsonos, BankRI’s President & CEO. “Attending a financial literacy workshop is an investment in your future and a chance to gain the tools that help you make informed decisions. We’re looking forward to bringing this workshop to our community.”
Attendees must sign up in advance and can do so online at https://tinyurl.com/36mwxwnf.
