Rhode Island Weather for July 2, 2026

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect through 8:00 PM Saturday (July 4). Expect:

  • Thursday (July 2): Even hotter, near 96°F or higher.
  • Friday (July 3): Continued dangerous heat (upper 90s).
  • Saturday (July 4): Still very hot before a slight cooldown possible afterward.

This qualifies as a solid early-summer heatwave for RI, with high humidity making it feel oppressive.

Stay hydrated, limit outdoor time during peak heat (especially afternoon/evening), check on vulnerable people/pets, and be cautious with any fireworks plans on the 4th.

Morning starts warm and sticky with lows in the mid-70s. Skies begin mostly sunny after any early isolated shower or thunderstorm chances fade quickly. It heats up fast into the 80s with high humidity.
Afternoon becomes brutally hot with highs near 100°F (or slightly above). The heat index will feel like 105–111°F, making it one of the most oppressive days of the summer so far. Sunshine dominates with only a very low chance of a brief shower.

Evening offers little relief as temperatures stay in the mid-to-upper 70s well into the night. Humidity remains high, though skies trend clearer. Outdoor activity is strongly discouraged after dark if possible.

Overall grade: D

This is peak dangerous heatwave weather — excellent only if you’re poolside with AC nearby and plenty of water. Limit time outside, never leave anyone (or pets) in cars, and check on neighbors. Stay safe!
