Dryden Gallery in North Providence will open a new exhibition highlighting emerging artists Saturday, September 13 from 3-5pm. The show, titled Now and Next, was curated by local gallerist and writer Michael Rose and will continue through November 7. Featuring an exciting range of paintings, ceramics, metalwork, and photography, the event highlights newer voices in the region.

The exhibition was organized by guest curator Michael Rose, a local gallerist and writer who manages the galleries of the historic Providence Art Club, writes about art in New England, and organizes art-centric events. Focused on emerging and early career artists, the exhibition presents an opportunity for visitors to experience work by new talents in the context of an important local gallery space that represents the work of many artists at all stages of their careers. 25% of the proceeds from any sales in the show will be donated to programming benefiting emerging artists at Gallery 263, a non-profit contemporary art venue in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Of the show, curator Michael Rose says, “This exhibition is a great opportunity to celebrate a selection of emerging artists from our state and region. It is also a chance for visitors to explore the wider stable of artists represented by Dryden Gallery, an exhibition space with a long and storied history that continues to make impactful contributions to our cultural scene.”

Now and Next will include works by Alyssa Bohorquez, Kannetha Brown, Kailey Coppens, Samantha Glevick, Myraha Harmon-Arias, Phoebe Hatch, Naylea Hernández, Tori Hong, Eli Kauffman, Jillian Kwitkiwski, Sylvie Mayer, Rachel Mulcahy, Madeline Menkes, Cameron Smith, and Brianna Joy Turner. Among the artists in the show are recent graduates of RISD, MassArt, as well as Salve Regina, Drexel University and other institutions.

Speaking of the collaborative nature of the exhibition, Rose continues, “I am grateful to the whole staff of Dryden Gallery including gallery director Liz Kelley, past gallery director Mea Duke, and owner Geoff Gaunt for their invitation for me to guest curate. Dryden is such a special venue and the opportunity to introduce new artists to the gallery’s audience is a special one.”

Dryden Gallery is located inside Providence Picture Frame at 1350 Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence, Rhode Island. Gallery hours are Monday – Saturday from 9am – 5pm each day. Now and Next will be on view September 13 through November 7, 2025 and a celebratory reception that is free and open to the public will take place Saturday, September 13 from 3-5pm.
