RI Weekend Weather Wrap – Sat/Sun, May 16/17, 2020
By Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
Overnight showers and storms over and done with, we’ll have another warm day courtesy of a thicker atmosphere able to hold more heat. It won’t last long, but we can enjoy it for another day. Morning lows will hover around 60, while afternoon high temps will crown somewhere in the mid 70’s again under mostly clear daytime skies. Generally light winds will shift from northerly to southeasterly in the afternoon in response to shifting high pressure and ocean effect.
Sunday 5/17/20:

A developing storm system to our west intrudes later in the day in the form of high and thickening clouds, but not before some decent Sunday weather, lows in the low 50’s and afternoon highs reaching the low 60’s before getting capped by the cloud cover, and, in opposition to Saturday, a thinner atmosphere unable to take the heat.
Still nice though, we’ll take it. Good weekend.
