Two slogans attributed to Governor Raimondo really put it together for the rift between the town of Narragansett and the Governor.
On Monday, at the virtual ZOOM meeting of the Narragansett Town Council quite a few items are up for consideration. Among them is a resolution directing the Narragansett Police Department (and other law enforcement) to NOT enforce the Executive Orders of the State of Rhode Island related to coronavirus.
This step is believed to be proposed to allow the town to open its beach, businesses, and churches. The wording of the resolution notes that the Orders are seen as a violation of the First Amendment and they pose harm to the emotional, spiritual and financial well being of its residents.
When the Governor heard about the resolution and the intent to open Narragansett, she said that the attempt is “so selfish” – and a “huge risk”.
Anyone interested in watching the Council meeting can do so on Zoom.
