Material Matters is a multimedia exhibition that explores how four nationally recognized artists navigate cross-cultural associations and narratives to reference and (re)shape meaning. Opening Reception at Jamestown Arts Center will be held on Friday, September 20th from 5:30-7:30 pm. The event is free and open to all.

Drawing from influences as diverse as ancient Buddhist architecture to the Harlem Renaissance and 21st Century Post-Modernism, the artists’ creative practice confronts and distorts relationships between form and signification. The exhibit will interrupt viewer perception while engaging them in a cross cultural diaspora dialogue that explores a transformational and intersectional experience.

Curated by Ari Montford
