Gimme’ Shelter – Zeus is at the Providence Animal Control Center

Hello there, my name is Zeus, and this is the second time in recent months that I was picked up by the nice animal control officers for running around my neighborhood. The first time I was so happy-excited when my family came to get me. This past time they never came back, and I am confused as to why, sigh… I am such a good boy.

That’s okay. I am ready to find a new home now that I am neutered. I am social, but naturally anxious due to my confusion, and will need some time to warm up. I will certainly let you know when I am comfortable because I will lean my body into your legs when getting pet. I just love attention and really enjoy being scratched under my neck. I will seek more petting as I stretch my neck out and raise my head with soft, squinty eyes.

I need a home who will be patient with me to get comfortable enough to engage in playful activities. I want to play with toys, but shelter life is difficult for us dogs. I need to work on my basic obedience skills such as sit, down, and touch. I need an owner who will train recall due to possible flight risk. I am an older boy and somewhat anxious, my ideal placement is a home without children. I hope you Husky lovers out there come meet me soon as I really want to find a home of my own. Love, Zeus.

If you can see me, I am still available! No phone calls please, everything is done online and we do need an application submitted and approved before scheduling a visit. We differ from other shelters by offering a one on one experience between you, our staff and the animal or animals you’ve chosen to become a new family member! Please email [email protected].

About the Providence Animal Control Division

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

As of November 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents. To participate please send a message through our Facebook page at Providence Animal Care Center.
