RI nonprofits: Deadline to register for United Way 401Gives
Friday is the Deadline for Nonprofits to Register for 401Gives – More organizations expected to participate than ever before as the state’s largest nonprofit philanthropic effort aims to raise $4 million+ in a single day
April 1st – and with it, 401Gives – is just around the corner, and United Way of Rhode Island is reminding local nonprofits that this Friday, March 15, is the final day to register to participate. As of Wednesday morning, more than 550 organizations were signed up, putting the day on track to set a new high for the number of nonprofits raising funds in support of their mission-driven work.
Rhode Island-based nonprofits who want to participate can register at 401Gives.org.
“Each year, 401Gives has gotten bigger in reach and in impact, and we’re thrilled at the prospect that more nonprofits will benefit from the power of the day – this is what modern philanthropy looks like,” said Nancy Wolanski, executive director of the Alliance for Nonprofit Impact at United Way of R.I. “If you’re a local organization that has yet to sign up or maybe has not participated in the past, join us. 401Gives truly is Rhode Island and its people at their best.”
Powered by United Way and led by the newly launched statewide Alliance, 401Gives brings people together to support hundreds of nonprofits that provide vital programs and services to our communities every day. The unified day of giving utilizes a digital fundraising platform and harnesses the power of social media and peer-to-peer outreach to raise millions of dollars.
After registering, nonprofits can immediately begin to customize their individual 401Gives page with photos and video to highlight their mission and work, and share their stories. As part of the 401Gives experience, there is also an available selection of webinar and training videos geared to help nonprofits maximize their participation. There is also a helpful Nonprofit Toolkit that includes sample email content, social media tips, downloadable graphics, and more.
Rhode Island nonprofits not only support and enhance quality of life in the Ocean State, but the sector is also a significant economic and workforce driver. Nearly 1 in 5 Rhode Islanders go to work each day for a not-for-profit organization.
