ART! Alton Stuckey’s portraits at Newport Art Museum

Renowned self-taught artist, Alton Stuckey, is excited to announce the unveiling of his exhibition at the Newport Art Museum. From now until March 22, 2024, visitors are invited to experience the captivating series of portraits that showcase Stuckey’s commitment to celebrating diversity and addressing pressing social issues.

As a Providence-based artist with a passion for portraiture, Stuckey’s work is both positive and uplifting creations while he simultaneously endeavors to shed light on the richness of human experience and the importance of social justice. For this exclusive showcase, Stuckey has created a new series of portraits featuring Black musicians who have graced the stages of the iconic Newport Jazz Festival.

The Newport Art Museum’s esteemed Museum School Mini-Exhibition series provides the perfect platform for Stuckey to share his artistic vision with the world. By highlighting emerging contemporary and Outsider artists, the series offers a unique opportunity for patrons to engage with thought-provoking artworks that challenge perceptions and inspire dialogue.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to exhibit my work at the Newport Art Museum,” says Stuckey. “Through this collection of portraits, I’m happy to celebrate Black musical talent while also drawing attention to the social issues that continue to shape our communities.”

Join Alton Stuckey as he invites you to explore the intersection of art, culture, and activism through the lens of portraiture at the Newport Art Museum.
