Ron & Jen’s Great Escape, January 31, 2024 – Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien
by Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien, commentary
THE SEX WORE OFF
So, I have been following the exploits of those 2 TV people from ABC that got poop canned over their affair with each other. TJ Holmes and Amy Robach. From the onset I thought “you guys ain’t NEVA GONNA MAKE IT”. Here they were flirting ON TV, shamelessly, while their spouses sat at home knowing what was happening… OR in complete denial. They didn’t seem to care who saw what and never really hid it. Fast forward to the “revelation” (uh huh) that they were cheating on their spouses with each other, and then their subsequent firing.
I mean… does anyone in their 40’s really believe that’s a way to start a healthy relationship and sustain it? I mean… maybe in your twenties and thirties you can live that fantasy, but as you age you know the bull $h!t and the game. That relationship is both.
To make matters worse they then decided to “keep it real” with a crazy podcast that divulges their trials and tribulations as if we care, and Amy talks about her neediness, while TJ talks about his VOID toward her. Damn, bro. They also tell us they drank too much… felt distant from one another and they admit they’re now “struggling”. Oh, for the love of GOD. YA… they’re struggling because the sex wore off and they’re sober for 1 second, and that’s when the BS gets real. Life is hard and when you come up for air out of a situation like that you realize “we’re not that compatible”. I know…
I’ve been there. Yup. Not one of my finer moments, but a hardcore growth experience… and coincidentally, happened in my 30’s.
Well, I suppose the best news out of that whole messy “entanglement” is that the spouses that got cheated on are now dating and in a SERIOUS relationship. Perfect!! Just in time for VALENTINES DAY! HEY… the heart wants what the heart wants… I’m not a betting woman, but I’ll lay 50 down that says that TJ AND AMY don’t last past September. We will see… but she wants to talk about her “feelings” all the time and “cuddle” (how gross)…
Amy, Amy, Amy… I’m going to win this bet… with myself!
Till next week,
Jen

A FAMILIAR RHODY AROMA
Federal investigators are now probing allegations of fraud on many years of work done on the now closed northern span of the Washington Bridge. It might not be solace to the 90,000 poor SOB’s who have to bear nightmarish bumper to bumper traffic on a daily basis, but it should shine some light on how a bridge got into such disrepair that it had to be unexpectedly closed on December 11th. The DOJ’s seeking materials including texts, videos, emails, photos and notes going back as far as January 1st 2015, days before Gina Raimondo was sworn in as governor. The fed investigators who pay roughly 80% of the cost of the work on the bridge, are looking for “concerns the allegation that false claims for payment for services and or false statements in support of such payments have been submitted to the U-S government.” The probe could be targeting any of the contractors hired by the RI DOT to build new ramps and lanes for the bridge, repair sections or conduct bridge inspections to make sure all repairs were going as planned. Meanwhile, Governor Dan McKee seems to putting a little arms distance between himself and DOT Director Peter Alviti who was hired by Raimondo. McKee’s dispatching his senior deputy chief of staff, Joseph Almond, to the RI DOT. McKee’s office says Almond will “oversee and make sure information is flowing in all directions and we’re moving together as a team.” For those of you left stewing in that daily bumper to bumper hell, consider the fact Almond’s salary is $192,708 bucks a year.
TWO WEEK WAIT
Why do we need two weeks between the Conference Championship games and the Super Bowl? We know why the networks love it… more advertising dollars…but, really, two weeks? Prices for the “big game” between The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are at record highs with STUBHUB offering the “cheapest” seat in nose bleed heaven at 86 hundred bucks after fees. One of the reasons? No, not Taylor Swift’s possible appearance but location, location, location with the game being played in Sin City, Las Vegas.
