Rhode Island Weekend Weather for May 6/7, 2023 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 5/6/23:
A weekend to remember…
Finally, we break the pattern and get some actual May weather, with just scattered cloud cover and non-chilly air. High pressure begins to build in, an more importantly, the stubborn upper low keeping us in the chills has weakened and has begun to slide eastward. We’ll have morning lows in the mid 40’s warming to an afternoon high in the upper 60’s to around 70 with a north-northwesterly breeze.
An “A” Day!
Sunday 5/7/23:

An even better day, maybe, with afternoon highs around 70 from morning lows around 50 with a west-southwestely breeze under partly cloudy skies.
An “A” Day!

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst.
