RI Weather Today, Friday 3/6/20:
By Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
High pressure retreats over the open waters while a coastal low pressure area develops along the mid-Atlantic and roll by mostly to our south, the northwest edges of the storm catching us with some mixed rain and snow for the bay area and mostly snow in the northwestern hills later in the evening. Clouds roll in early with lows in the mid 30’s and afternoon highs reaching the upper 40’s under thickening stratus cloud cover before the precipitation begins. Winds will kick up in the afternoon with the closest approach of the low, generally in the 10-20 mph range with higher gusts in the evening.
