Outdoors RI: Take a Westerly hike!
Watershed Hike, Glacier Preserve, December 13th, 12:30-2:30p
Join the Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic River’s Stewardship Council and Lauren Barber from the Westerly Land Trust as they host a public hike through the beautiful and fascinating Glacier Park Preserve in Westerly.
December is the perfect time for a guided hike through WLT Glacier Park. Trees have let go of their last fall leaf yielding a clearer view of the Block Island Sound from the top of the Charlestown Moraine. Glacier Park lies within the watershed of the nationally designated Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic Rivers. Learn why this watershed received this special title, explore the glacial terrain and get a closer look at the diverse ecosystem.
This event is FREE thanks to a partnership with the Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic Stewardship Council. Space is limited. Registration is required.
Parking on the north side of the preserve at the Tom Harvey Rd trail head.
In case of INCLEMENT WEATHER, you will be contacted for a rescheduled date of Dec 16, 2022 all other details remain the same.
The park contains an abundance of features created by the last Ice Age, as well as spectacular views of Block Island and nearby beaches.
