YMCA of Greater Providence Annual ‘Y Heroes’ Event Returns In-Person at the RI Convention Center on May 10th

Providence, RI – April 18, 2022 – The YMCA of Greater Providence (GPYMCA) is pleased to announce the return of its annual “Y Heroes” fundraising event, the first in-person celebration since 2019, on Tuesday, May 10th at 12:00 p.m. at the Rhode Island Convention Center. T

“After a long two years, we are thrilled to be able to gather in-person to celebrate some of the most generous and philanthropic members of our Y community,” said Steven O’Donnell, CEO, YMCA of Greater Providence. “Each of this year’s heroes has impacted the YMCA of Greater Providence in their own way, whether through time, talent, or treasure, and we are honored to have their support.”
The 2022 “Y Heroes” who will be recognized are:

It used its vehicles to transport students to school; delivered meals to food insecure areas of Providence; provided technology, WiFi hotspots, and technical support to distance learners in need; hosted culinary programs for teens that focused on preparing healthy meals and provided them with the food to bring home; and launched an evening InMusic program to expose teens to high-end beat-making equipment and the variety of job opportunities available within the music industry.
Now, as a return to normal is on the horizon, the GPYMCA is refocusing on a return to the urban core of the City of Providence, led by COO and Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Kobi Dennis, to ensure that the GPYMCA’s programs and services are accessible to all, especially the most vulnerable members of our community.
