Providence Art Club to open 2020 with two new shows
The Providence Art Club is excited to announce it will open 2020 with two exciting exhibitions featuring work created both by new and current members of the historic organization, which turns 140 in the new year. On view in the Club’s Maxwell Mays and Mary Castelnovo Galleries will be the annual Class and Staff Exhibition, while in the Dodge House Gallery, newly elected artist members will be highlighted in a show titled New Year, New Members.
These exhibitions will run January 7 – 24 and include festive receptions on January 11 from 4-6pm. They will feature work by Art Club artists who have participated in some of the Club’s more than 65 classes and workshops in 2019, alongside pieces by talented members of the Club’s professional staff, and artworks by some of the noted artists who have joined the thriving Club over the last year. These shows will follow the closure of the Art Club’s 115th Annual Little Pictures Show & Sale, which is on pace to be the most successful in the Club’s history.
As the Club enters its 140th year of promoting art culture in the City of Providence, it remains a vitally important component of the cultural landscape in the region. In 2019 the Club was recognized as one of the top three art galleries in the State by Providence Journal readers and received a Rhode Island Monthly Best of Rhode Island Award for Best Art Gallery in Providence.
For more information about these exhibitions contact Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose at 401-331-1114 ext.5, or via email at [email protected].

About the Providence Art Club:
Founded in 1880 to stimulate the appreciation of art in the community, the Club has long been a place for artists and art patrons to congregate, create, display and circulate works of art. Located along Thomas Street, in the shadow of the First Baptist Church, the Providence Art Club is a picturesque procession of historic houses, home to studios, galleries and the clubhouse. Through its public programs, its art instruction classes for members and its active exhibition schedule, the Providence Art Club continues a tradition of sponsoring and supporting the visual arts in Providence and throughout Rhode Island.
All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
