“Ron & Jen’s Great Escape” – 11-10-2021 – Ron St. Pierre & Jen Brien
JEN’S JOLLY HOLLY
Well, here we are officially in the thick of the holiday season! Its ALL CHRISTMAS all the time for me this year beginning November 1st!
Skipped right over Thanksgiving as I’m not a particularly huge foodie anyway. While I typically celebrate with tremendous gratitude and joy the holiday has been hijacked by the woke mob and turned into something I should feel ashamed about.
Well, I ain’t gonna live there – and while I still feel incredible gratitude I decided to park right in front of the North Pole until January 1st this year.
C’mon Christmas!
I honestly think this last year was harder for me than the previous year and frankly I’m exhausted. All year long, America was shamed and told that the things that I believe in:
* American Exceptionalism
* Love of God and Country
* Freedom
* Dissent
are perverted and racist and inherently evil.
I’m 53. This part of history I’m living through has been gross. Honestly.
And so – It’s pretty simple. I turn to something that makes my heart happy. Brings my spirit peace and allows for me to escape this crazy place for 2 months.
Is that ok? Can I put my tree up now?
Well… too bad if that’s grotesque for you to consider. It’s already up. Along with every single holiday decoration I have.
Better get on it yourself. Before they try to cancel this time of year as well.
FALLING BACKWARD
Have you ever heard of SAD? It’s the acronym for SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER and you may be suffering from it right now. It’s a seasonal mood change (and not for the positive) partly brought on by Eastern Standard Time that went into effect last weekend as we turned our clocks back an hour to fall into winter afternoon darkness. There’s been snail like movement locally and nationwide supporting a move to Atlantic time so don’t expect the twice a year changes to the clock to go anywhere soon. Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maine have all considered bills that would move to Atlantic time, but none have passed. Meantime, it’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
LIKE A BAD NEIGHBOR
If you watched NFL football last weekend, you likely noticed, conspicuous by their absence, STATE FARM commercials featuring Aaron Rodgers. This follows the revelation Rodgers isn’t COVID-19 vaccinated and has apparently been bypassing NFL protocols for unvaccinated players. Back in August, Rodgers played the semantics game when he told a reporter he was “immunized”. Turned out he was being treated holistically and never received the vaccine. He contracted COVID-19 and missed Sunday’s Packers loss to the Chiefs. NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabar spoke out on CNN saying not only did Rodgers lie to the league, his teammates, and fans, he also jeopardizes future endorsement deals with ALL professional athletes claiming advertisers will ask themselves “how can I trust them to promote my product?”
LAZY BONES
A 24/7 WALL STREET survey has Rhode Island ranked 18th when it comes to the laziest states in the US. The survey says 23.5% of adults 20 and older aren’t getting off their butts to exercise. Our adult obesity rate is 28.5%. And it’s not for lack of places to work out as RI is 2nd when it comes to access to places for physical activity at 95%.
