Jen’s thoughts on Brady’s “return”

Well, Tom Brady is coming to town and all the scuttlebutt with his quick visit is truly overload. Honestly. Ugh. Last Sunday when HIS Bucs got blown out by the Rams some were overjoyed to say the least – I sure was. I can’t lie. I’m still bitter about all that greatness heading south and leaving us with Cam Newton. He was no rebound relationship, that’s for sure. He didn’t even come close.

Frankly, I hated breaking up with Tom Brady the way we did. There was zero closure – no REAL EXPLANATION from Bill Belicheck – and a whole lotta questions. He moved on. Real quick. Which made it sting a little more. 

Listen, Tom Brady’s GREATNESS is undeniable, and I treasure the memories. We had 20 good years together. But still, hearing about him day in and day out this week brings a lot of issues to the surface. I think it will be good to see his face back in Foxboro; but I’m hoping his replacement and this team reminds him of why he came to town to begin with – and maybe for one second, he’ll regret leaving. 

Old habits die hard. That’s for sure. At least – that’s a fact for me. #Itsnotyouitsme

Did no remorse dictate the course?

Former Fall River Mayor Jasiel “Little Buddy” Correia was sentenced to 6 years in prison last week after being convicted of stealing money from investors and extorting thousands of dollars from marijuana businesses that hoped to open in Fall River. Your basic pay to play. District Court Judge Douglas Woodlock called Correia a narcissist who has yet to take responsibility for his actions. The judge had begged Correia to show remorse before sentencing, but the former mayor remained mum on the advice of his attorney who thought it could hurt his appeal. Did Correia’s decision to stay hush hurt him? Some legal analysts think so. In fact, many think it led to a harsher sentencing. When Correia will report to prison and what gated community he’ll be sent to is to be decided. Some think he’ll go to some easy peasy place to serve his time but if it’s anything like Buddy Cianci’s stay in Fort Dix, it’s no walk in the park. I (Ron) visited Cianci on multiple occasions and believe me, it’s not like that scene in GOODFELLAS where Paulie’s slicing the garlic with a razor blade and steaks and lobsters are being delivered

Pandemic replay?

Costco is placing limits on the purchases of certain items… toilet paper, paper towels, bottled water, disinfectant cleaners due to supply-chain issues and the rise of the COVID-19 delta variant. Chip shortages will bring long delays and shortages of furniture and items such as computers, tablets, and appliances.

Is there booze in your blender?

All the booze we bought during the start of the pandemic is catching up with us. Many states are experiencing alcohol shortages due to demand, supply chains failing and shipping costs resulting in skyrocketing prices.

America’s Sweet Tooth

Halloween’s just around the bend and Trick or Treaters will be back in full force… so, what are their faves? Reese’s Cups top the list (many stolen by Mom and Dad) with Skittles coming in at number two, followed by M&M’s, Starbursts and Hot Tamales (yuck) rounding out the top 5. The dreaded Candy Corn comes in at number 10 (double yuck). As for Rhode Island’s top choice? TWIX!

Jen Brien has over 20 years of radio broadcast experience having hosted shows on WPRO and WHJJ with Ron as well as her own shows on WRKO and WBZ in Boston, WXTK on Cape Cod and WHAM in Rochester, New York. Jen was born and raised in Woonsocket and served six years in the Army MP Canine Unit.
