The Galleries of the historic Providence Art Club will host the organization’s annual Fall Members’ Exhibition throughout the Club’s three galleries on College Hill in September. The show will feature 150 works of original fine art with $6,000 in prize money being awarded.

The exhibition dates are August 30 – September 16, and the galleries will be open Sundays to Fridays from noon to 4pm each day (closed Saturdays).

Sonja Czekalski

The Awards Judge is Sonja Czekalski, the Director of Hera Gallery in Wakefield.

This exhibition will include works submitted by the Club’s Exhibiting Artist Members. Each artist was invited to submit one work in any media. All submitted works will be installed in a vivid salon-style exhibition spread across the galleries located at 11 Thomas Street in Providence.

Works will range from oil and acrylic on canvas, to photographs and fine prints, to three-dimensional works of ceramic, glass, and woodworking. The exhibition will provide viewers with an opportunity to learn more about many talented artists from throughout Rhode Island as well as Massachusetts, Connecticut, and beyond.

For this exhibition, artists, and Awards Judge Czekalski will select 15 prizewinning works, whose makers will receive a total of $6,000 in cash prizes.

Czekalski earned her undergraduate degree at Rhode Island College and is currently enrolled in the MFA program at Massachusetts College of Art. Her work is in the fourth wave of American feminism and utilizes fiber-arts and hand-made paper.

Of the exhibition, the Art Club’s Gallery Director Michael Rose said, “We are excited to share a wide range of artworks in this exciting show, and we are thrilled to welcome a talented young artist like Sonja Czekalski to participate as our distinguished Awards Judge.”
