Your RI Weekend Weather Wrap, March 19/20, 2022 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 3/19/22:
A low pressure system moves in and plants itself for the day over southern New England, and we deal with the gift of all day rain. Not a cold winter rain, as the warmth from the southwest will be with it, afternoon highs in the mid 50’s from morning lows in the mid 40’s. The breeze will be up and out of the south gusting to 25 mph.
Sunday 3/20/22:

A secondary low pressure trough will roll through once the main low pressure system has passed through, showers ending before the dawn and the winds then shifting gradually from southwesterly to westerly and still gusting to 25 mph. Midday highs around 60 cooling to the mid 40’s by evening.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst where the McCabe’s, Donnelly’s, Walker’s and Callan’s have been since after the Civil War.
