Your RI Weather Today – August 12, 2021 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Day two of the latest Summer Heat Wave will be nearly a carbon copy of yesterday, with coastal fog and a sultry morning elsewhere followed by searing heat and, let’s face it, oppressive humidity.
Morning lows in the mid 70’s and afternoon highs edging closer to the mid 90’s with a gusty southwesterly wind. These types of days always foster the threat of afternoon thunderstorms over the interior portions of New England away from the coastal zone, and there’s always a chance that a creeper can overachieve and reach further than expected, like that little wave down at the beach that ruins your stylish new topsiders you thought were safe because the last 50 wavelets crashed two feet from you.
Happy sweltering, folks!
