Wood River Health to provide dental services to Block Island
Wood River Health has partnered with Block Island Health Services to provide comprehensive dental services at 6 Payne Road in New Shoreham, RI beginning in January 2024.
Based in Hope Valley and Westerly, Wood River Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center that supports the residents of southwestern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut.
“Wood River Health is committed to improving the quality of life of Washington County residents by connecting them with the health care services they require to thrive,” stated President andCEO Alison L. Croke, MHA. “We are looking forward to increasing Block Island residents’ access to comprehensive dental services.”
A Federally Qualified Health Center, Wood River Health delivers high-quality and affordable healthcare services through a compassionate, team-based approach. Its board-certified dentists anddental hygienists provide comprehensive dental services to patients of all ages with a focus on preventative and restorative dentistry.
“Block Island is experiencing a steady, increased demand for high-quality, broad-based health care and dental services,” stated Wood River Health’s Chief Dental Officer Tiffanie Waldeck, DMD. “To meet this need, we have partnered with Block Island Health Services to provide diagnostic, preventative, restorative, endodontic and prosthodontic services to the residents of Block Island.
Block Island Health Services is a Primary Care Facility providing community health care, able to handle urgent and emergent needs. Through their in-house providers, partnerships with visiting specialists, and a mainland referral network, the health center helps ensure the health, safety, and well-being of island residents and visitors.
“Block Island Health Services is excited to announce its partnership with Wood River Health Dental Services,” stated Thomas Warcup DO, MHA, Medical Director and CEO, Block Island Health Services. “Wood River Health accepts all dental insurance and offers programs for individuals who are underinsured or do not have dental insurance. They will begin providing dental services at Block Island Health Services in January 2024.”
A private, non-profit Community Health Center, Wood River Health’s providers and staff are devoted to delivering quality patient care to their patients. Their dental services include dental examsand cleanings, oral cancer screenings, digital X-rays, sealants, fluoride varnishes, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, and partial and complete dentures.
Wood River Health is designated as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Services are provided to patients regardless of their ability to pay for the care they require. All types of insurance are accepted including Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and RIte Smiles. Wood River Health offers a Sliding Fee Scale Program where eligible patients receive discounts on their dental health bills.
Block Island Health Services will host a public forum in the upcoming months to raise awareness and educate residents about the partnership.
