Wickford Art Assoc Call for Entry – “Annual Members Exhibit”

The Wickford Art Association issued its annual “call for entries” from its members for their “Annual Members Exhibit” to be on exhibit from July 24 to August 16, 2020. The exhibit showcases members’ talent with no specified theme.

Current Members Only, Judged, All Media, Awards

Awards: 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 2 Honorable Mentions, 2 Juror’s Awards

There will be no Opening Reception for this exhibit.

Virtual Gallery Online LAUNCHES: Tuesday- July 28, 2020

Entry is open to current WAA members who may submit one (1) 2D or 3D fine art in any fine art media.

All work is accepted for exhibit, one entry per member.

Call for Entries:
– Tuesday: July 21 (11AM-6PM…open late),
– Wednesday: July 22 (11AM-3PM)
– Thursday: July 23 (11AM-3PM)

Entry Fee:
-WAA members: $16, one entry only, all work is accepted.
New General Artist Members are welcome to join at time of entry and enter 1 piece.

Art may be collected after the exhibit concludes on
– Tuesday, August 18th, 11 AM to 6 PM
Accepted and purchased art may not be removed during the exhibit.

About Stephan Brigidi – Judge

Stephan Brigidi was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1951, and is a widely published artist whose work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. Brigidi received his MFA at RI School of Design in 1976, studying with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind.  He received a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship to Italy from and a Photographer’s Fellowship from the National Endow­ment for the Arts, along with other grants and awards. Brigidi has been an invited artist resident to the MacDowell Colony, the Yaddo Colony, and MASS/MoCA.

Previous publications include a collaboration with the poet, Robert Bly, on Angels of Pompeii, published by Ballantine Books, NY in 1991. Remarkable People is Brigidi’s second book published in 1995 by the Sunningdale Foundation, RI.  Afraid of the Dark: A Venetian Story, was published in 2015 by BVT Publishing, Reading, California.  The Fire of Rome is Brigidi’s fourth book, completed in 2017 by Bristol Workshops editions.  Brigidi has also completed his fifth book, Portrait as an Artist’s Limited Edition.  Daylight Books of North Carolina has published Brigidi’s newest title, ROME 1970s in 2019.

Brigidi has taught photography, painting, and aesthetics since 1979 at such places as the Universities of Hawaii & Connecticut, Rhode Island College, and for many years at Rhode Island School of Design.  His photography has been acquired by more than thirty museums in the US and Europe.
